Are you Ready for Rosie?

Did you know that most African American and Latino children in Rochester, start PreK 1.5 to 2 years BEHIND their White counterparts with about 3,000 less words in their vocabulary?
Unfortunately, this is a sad fact. The GOOD NEWS is that there is something happening to change it. In the City of Rochester, parents, families, and anyone working with children, ages 0-5, can enroll in ReadyRosie and work with their children, family members, or young friends to engage and teach them right where you are with everyday items you already have or see.
ReadyRosie is a free early education tool that can be accessed from a cell phone, computer, or any device connected to the internet. The ReadyRosie app has short videos in English and Spanish that show you how to use everyday situations to teach children things they need in order to succeed in school and learn more words. After you register, the videos will be sent to your cell phone or device once a week. You watch it, and then do the steps with your kids wherever you are. It really is that easy, and if you have more than one child aged 0-5, you can register for them too.
ReadyRosie is free for parents in Rochester zip codes because it is funded by the ROC the Future Parent Engagement Collaborative Action Network (PECAN), Healthy Baby Network (via the Maternal and Infant Community Health Collaborative grant funded by the Bureau of Women, Infant & Adolescent Health, New York State Department of Health), the Farash Foundation, the Friends and Foundation of the Rochester Public Library, the Children’s Institute, in-kind support from the City of Rochester, and the Rochester City School District.
Enter your zip code here to start registration. Use “Community” as Name of School/Site, and “Healthy Baby Network” as your organization. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact Sherita Bullock by email at sherita@healthy-baby.net.
