‘Bear With Me’ Cast Spotlight: Eleanor Coleman

Posted on April 30, 2019 by in

Eleanor Coleman has been married to her wonderful husband, Dennis for 40 years. Their three children, Jeremy, Rachel, and Jessica are soulful and radiant. She and Dennis’ grandson, Emery, is their pride and joy. Eleanor lived in Holland and Saudi Arabia during the first 12 years of her life. Currently, Eleanor works with Catholic Family Center’s YouthBuild construction program as a Placement Coordinator for youth ages 16-24. She taught English to refugees at OACES for three years and she created an organization, ProsperRochester, Inc., to support small, grassroots projects that improve quality of life. She worked for SWAN for 17 years building bridges and identifying and engaging assets (people and places) in our community. Eleanor is a proud member of the Rotary of SouthWest Rochester which focuses on service. There is nothing more important to Eleanor than developing her spiritual life.

What do you love about Rochester?

I love Rochester’s diversity in people and places. I love that all my children and grandchild live here, and I love that Rochester is the home of Susan B. Anthony and the location of Frederick Douglass’s major contributions to abolition and suffrage.

What is one of your favorite parenting moments, as a parent or as a daughter?

Being in the hospital room with my daughter, Rachel, when she gave birth to my grandson, Emery.
