About

We deliver nutritious, hot meals and assistance to homeless and low-income people.

No proof of identification or income is needed.

Hot Meals Nutritious, fresh food, from roast turkey and bacon and eggs, to freshly baked cookies and pies, is served family-style to our guests, as if they were in a restaurant. Our volunteers wait on guests. They often sit with them after meals to talk and share stories.

Personal Hygiene/Laundry Ministry. We offer hot showers on Saturday mornings and free use of laundry facilities on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. We provide towels, soap, detergent, and other personal hygiene products.

Personal Problem Solving and Listening Ministry Many of our guests are very lonely and have no family or other support. Our Personal Problem Solving Assistance and Listening Ministry helps them. Our director is available to help guests whenever the Dining Center is open. She gives confidential assistance and referrals to help people with housing, employment, legal, and/or medical concerns as well as referring them to places where they can get clothing and household goods.

Hair Care Ministry Licensed cosmetologists bring their own supplies and cut guests’ hair for free. Guests walk away standing a little taller and feeling a little more confident.

Bicycle Ministry On Thursday mornings a volunteer crew from R Community Bikes repairs bicycles for free. Transportation for our guests is often hard. Our partnership with R Community Bikes helps our guests to get to doctor’s appointments and job interviews.

Baking Team Delicious homemade cookies, pies, and cakes are prepared one Saturday morning per month. Our dedicated volunteer bakers fill our kitchen with the aromas of sugar and spice, mixed with love.

Job Search/Computer Access Use of computers, phones, and current newspapers help guests search for work and take care of other personal business.

Personal Enrichment. We hold a weekly non-denominational “Come as You Are” worship service in our dining room. This gives interested guests the chance to explore their spirituality in a casual, non-threatening environment. Wednesday afternoons, we often have guest speakers from other social service agencies talking about topics such as health care, legal issues, and employment strategies.

Food Stamp Application. We are one of only seven approved Monroe County community-based partners for food stamps. Our staff can help guests apply for food stamps on-line, so that they do not have to make time consuming, expensive trips to the Department of Social Services.
