Community Food Cupboard of Rochester
We deliver food provisions monthly to homebound senior citizens and long-term need families, and supply emergency provisions to others upon demand.
The community need: We supply food to clients in the northeast quadrant of Rochester, perhaps the area in Rochester of greatest need and demand for emergency services. Our service area includes the town of Irondequoit. According to the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2009 statistics, there are 57,256 households in our service area, and the average household income is $29,970.
Target population: We deliver a five-day provision to 150– 160 senior households per month, and to an additional 5 – 10 long-term need households. Additionally, we serve approximately 20 – 50 households monthly due to emergency needs. We serve all age and ethnic groups. Many households are populated with young children, cared for by senior adults.
Services provided: emergency food provisions, personal and hygiene items, referrals to other human services agencies.
Timeframe: We are open to clients Monday, Wednesday and Friday throughout the year. Our hours of operation are 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
