Salvation Army: Emergency & Family Services
The Salvation Army’s Emergency & Family Services program (EFS) provides immediate emergency assistance to households in crisis throughout Monroe County. Counseling and case management services are also provided and offer families and individuals holistic, long-term support.
Assistance provided includes:
Food— provided through vouchers to area supermarkets for food & personal items or through the distribution of food bags to fill the gaps for those in the most need.
Advocacy and referrals to outside agencies (for clothing, etc.)
Crisis assessment and management
Paid lodging— provided for clients who are denied by the Department of Human Services (DHS) with a written referral from DHS. One week of lodging per 12 months may be provided at local accommodations, or for a longer period of time if there is availability at a Salvation Army shelter.

EFS is open from 7:30am-4pm Monday through Friday. Applications are taken on a first come/first serve basis. All adult clients should come prepared with picture ID or 3 official documents with their name on them, in addition to ID for any children that they may be applying for.
